   About us-

Welcome to our web page/site!   We are a family who believes in raising good quality American cockers and finding the right match for you.  We are a small kennel but have a big heart for our dogs and the people of whom they will love and serve. We have been breeding American Cocker Spaniels for 16 years. We do not breed other breeds or the fad of designer mixes.  Below you will find topics, issues and answers about us and this page as well as other pictures and puppy info.  We are located about 55 miles north of Madison, WI or 15 miles northeast of Wis. Dells; whichever is helpful in explanation of location.

Our dogs are on the smaller side, starting at *13 lbs going to 27 lbs., with most falling in between. They come in several colors; chocolate, buff, red and black, in solids, bi's, tri's, parti's and sables.  We breed for showy looks and good personalities; this is a must.  Our cockers are very smart and are not hyper.  Most have several champions in their bloodline .  They are AKC registered and we do no inbreeding.  We do not have puppies year round.  We have several females though, that seem to come in heat all about the same time.  So, we may have four litters within a couple months of each other and then we won't have any more for several months.  We do not breed to mass produce, nor do we breed for brokers.  We breed for the enhancement of the breed and for families who are looking for quality companions.  We also recommend spaying or neutering your puppy.

*please note that there is no such thing as a miniature cocker.  These dogs are just on the smaller end of the scale in weight.  There is only one American Cocker breed and it has a set standard in weight and height as well as body characteristics and form..

Our expectant mommies are fed extra nutrition and supplements through pregnancy and into lactation to enhance proper development of their babies and to provide for mommy's requirements as well.  Our puppies are whelped in the house and we handle them everyday, from birth on and thoroughly enjoy watching them grow.  All puppies start to go home on approval at the age of eight weeks, having their current shots and wormings and are health guaranteed.  We also send home a puppy care pack, plus we personally coach you on training and care. We have the parents on site and they have come from lines of quality breeding and years of experience.  You may pick up your puppy in person, or, we do ship out of state at the buyers expense at the proper shipping times of the year.

Our thoughts on getting a male vs. female?  We have heard many misconceptions about both and some have been down right silly.  Both have their pros and cons.  One does not train any easier than the other.  Each is an individual and develops in his or her own time, just like our children.  The males are generally a little bigger than the females, but not always.  We have had some petite boys.  We feel however, that most people sell the males short of what they really are.  We very much enjoy the girls, but for the most part find the boys to be a little more devoted, cuddlier and less moody.   We recommend to spay or neuter as soon as a puppy is of age to do so and this usually takes away the desire in the males to "lift a leg."  He will probably continue to squat like a girl.  Plus, it is also much healthier for both male and female to be "fixed."  Some males may be neutered as soon as 12 weeks of age and a female is recommended to be spayed before her first heat.  So, male or female? If you have your heart set on a particular one, that's okay, but if you don't, ask us about the individual puppy posted or come and visit and then decide.

We also recommend searching out a good veterinarian for your new puppy.  Talk to other pet owners and ask about their experiences and don't be afraid to call clinics and ask about their costs on examinations, vaccinations and spaying/neutering.  Pet health care is very similar to human health care in this area.

We have young adults for adoption during the late Spring, into Summer and early Fall, to approved homes only. If you are interested, please inquire.  These are dogs with good dispositions and most have had some house training and are leash trained. (If they need finishing, they house train just like a puppy.) Vaccinations are current as well.

Stud Services: Due to the disinterest in people wanting to enhance the cocker breed we no longer will be doing stud services.  However, you may inquire ONLY if you want to have quality puppies and do not have an interest in producing puppies only for the money.  Otherwise, don't waste our time. We have stipulations and reserve the right to turn down any females, or you, if you do not stand up to our expectations in a quality breeding.  This may sound "stuffy" but there are many out there who will raise puppies only with dollar signs in their eyes and do not care about the breed or where their puppies go.

We hope you enjoy "Our Picture Gallery."  Use the arrows to advance and click on the picture to enlarge.  It works best in Internet Explorer.

If you are interested, scroll down to view "Our Available Puppies and Expectant Mamas." This is updated frequently when we have new litters and/or expectant moms. We like to keep you posted as to what is happening.  Inquire about the puppies due or that are already here and possibly reserve yours.

Puppies as Christmas presents:   We don't encourage that puppies go home as Christmas presents, but prefer to wait until things settle down  so quality time can be spent with the new puppy.  So, if we have puppies ready, we prefer to wait a week or so.  Regardless of being ready to go, or having several weeks, we still can work with you to make them Christmas presents by sending you a picture to put in a card or basket that contains puppy toys etc.  for the recipient.  This has been very fun in the past for all people involved and again, makes it less stressful for the new puppy.  It also helps to better prepare for the new baby and the anticipation and preparation of the arrival makes it doubly enjoyable for the recipient.  Trust me, it's been really fun doing it this way!

Please feel free to contact us with your inquiries or questions. *We usually answer within 48 hours or less. *However, we do not do dog correspondence on Sundays.   *Number and e-mail address below.

*Notice- as of Nov. 10, 2008, I have found my web site address imbedded in the descriptions of some disgusting, smutty web addresses as well as on searches for cockers of  miniature size.  I do not know how they got there, and I am not associated with any of these. My web host has informed me that these people act just like spammers of e-mail addresses, only they are doing it with web addresses.  They just want people to go to their sites.  Don't go to them, it is a ploy for their benefit to make their site status go higher in searches. There seems to be nothing I can do about it, as it is considered legal. Go figure.  If someone has an answer, please let me know.  The web is a good thing at times and at other times it can be a terrible or hurting thing.   Thank you in advance for your understanding, I only wish I could reach all people who may see these misrepresentations and will take it or use it in the wrong way.  ~MS

Dear Mindy,

I never dreamed when I left today, it would be the last time I would look into your eyes and caress your soft fur and rub your ears...  When I laid your still warm body into the earth I couldn't help but remember the spunk you once showed, the ball playing, the devotion to your babies and your devotion to me.  You were there when I was grieving over the loss of my mom and dad, when I was ill and in pain, in all of this you seemed to tune into my hurt and you showed it in your eyes looking at me as if you could only do something to ease it.  You were so devoted you never left my side.... You accepted Tip and mothered him even though he was naughty to you at times. He misses you too, I can tell.... We will miss you greatly and even though you are gone from our home, you will always be there in our hearts...

DMJJS HUGZ-N-KISSZ MINDY MAY

Sept. 17, 1995  -   April 4, 2008

August 19, 2009- It's well over a year since you are gone from our lives.  The first thunderstorm was hard because you were alone out there under the Mulberry tree and in your later years you were scared of the thunder. Christmas was different without having you to join us in present opening, and breakfasts are different when we have yogurt, as Dale always gave you a spoonful, while Tip got the container to lick out.  You were precious and I am finding it hard to "replace" you. Tip is doing a fine job of being my companion though, being there and loving me unconditionally, and I'm sure in all the puppies I have, that one day one will be there that will fill your void, but never be your replacement. You still remain in my heart....                       ~Mary
